An Enduring Power of Attorney is a legal document that appoints a trusted person \u2014 or persons \u2014 to manage your financial and personal affairs if you lose mental capacity. Without one, your family may face a lengthy, expensive, and emotionally draining court process simply to gain access to your bank accounts and manage your affairs. The EPA must be established while you have full capacity \u2014 it cannot be put in place afterwards.
