About MJ Hayes

A life in stories, classrooms, and children's imaginations.

MJ Hayes was born in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up on Long Island. She studied at The College of William & Mary, earned her Master's degree in Education from Adelphi University, and studied Educational Administration at New York University.

Her work reflects an educator's gift for meeting children where they are. Her books encourage empathy for children who are deaf or blind, kindness toward those who are different, and confidence in the power of words.
