At Spot-On K9 Services, we believe every dog deserves the opportunity to use their natural instincts in a way that is both rewarding and enriching.
Our training is built around K9 NOSE WORK®, a scent detection sport inspired by professional detection dog work but adapted specifically for companion dogs. The activity allows dogs to engage their most powerful sense—their nose—while building confidence, focus, and independence.

K9 Nose Work was created to give dogs an outlet for their natural
instincts. Through scent-based searches, dogs learn to locate hidden
targets while developing confidence and problem-solving skills.

Spot-On K9 Services is led by Mel, an experienced animal professional with a strong background in animal science and animal care.
Mel has worked with dogs across a variety of disciplines and developed a deep appreciation for activities that allow dogs to learn in ways that feel natural and rewarding to them.

Our training programs are designed around a dog-led learning model, where the dog’s natural instincts guide the process.
Rather than relying on commands or handler cues, dogs are encouraged to problem solve, explore, and locate scent targets using their own abilities. This approach builds confidence while teaching handlers how to read their dog’s behaviour and signals.
